Police are currently investigating an incident involving a man posing to be a rideshare driver and are seeking information and assistance identifying the vehicle and driver.

A woman was waiting for a rideshare vehicle on the morning of Aug. 13 when a vehicle she believed was her ride approached her in the 1900-block of Store Street.

Once she was inside the vehicle, the driver told her he was taking her back to his place. She was able to escape the car safely prior to arrival.

The driver is described as a dark-skinned man between 20 and 40 years old with a slim build, short black hair and a trimmed beard. He was driving a grey four-door sedan, possibly a 2013 to 2018 Nissan Altima.

Police also shared tips for getting home safely using a rideshare, including confirming vehicle and driver details before getting in the vehicle, looking for the company logo on the front and rear windshield, and sharing your trip details with a friend.

The incident remains under investigation and police are looking to speak to the driver and any witnesses.
