A community planning conference is slated for the Victoria Conference Centre later this month.

The event, called Intentional Transformation: Reimagining Inclusive Community Safety and Wellbeing, will take place from Sunday, Oct. 27 to Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Hosted by Victoria Mayor Marianne Alto, a series of speakers will discuss everything from disorder reduction policies to strategies for addressing homelessness to new ways to understand addiction, health and wrap-around care.

"This multi-day conference ... will give you a chance to connect with leaders in the field, while encouraging you to re-imagine what community safety and well-being looks like in your community and beyond," said the conference on its website.

Keynote speaker, Dr. Matthias Drilling – a professor at the University of Applied Sciences, Northwestern Switzerland – will share his insights about poverty, urban design and social sustainability.

"Sharing our diverse stories, perspectives and expertise, we will learn from one another, collaboratively deepen our understanding, re-imagine the concepts and reality of community safety and well-being, and create intentional, practical solutions to address the challenges all our communities face," said Alto in a news release.
