People in Greater Victoria like to complain about traffic lineups and long commutes.
Dave Lacey decide to do more than just complain – he posted a video X, formerly known as Twitter, to document the problem and ask for better transit to alleviate it.
The short video shows Lacey’s commute by bike from Saanich to Colwood and the long lines of cars, SUVs, trucks and buses he sees along the way. (You can watch it below.)
“I often wonder how mind-numbingly bad does traffic have to get before we get serious about prioritizing better transit, walk and roll infrastructure?” says the post. “Here’s a minute of my commute home last week.”

The post resulted in several thoughtful responses.
“How much more capacity could BC Transit run with the same vehicles and drivers on that route with the addition of a Bus Priority passing lane?” wrote one person.
“Our transit system is not properly funded. @BCTransit suffers from failed chicken and egg scenario when it comes to expanding service. Won’t expand service because of lack of ridership. People not using transit cause service is poor,” wrote another.
