The View Royal Fire Department says there were no injuries in a fire that engulfed a fifth-wheel trailer at Fort Victoria RV Park in View Royal in the afternoon of Tuesday, July 22.
According to department Chief Paul Hurst, the View Royal Fire Department was joined by crews from Langford, Colwood, and Esquimalt just before 3 p.m. to respond to the fire, which had engulfed one trailer and a shed. A second trailer was starting to catch fire as well.
Crews took about 20 minutes to control the fire, and the scene is currently being investigated.
"Preliminary investigation shows the shed was full of lithium batteries and propane tanks. We don't know what the cause of the fire is, but obviously the fire started in the shed, spread to the trailer, and then subsequently caught the [second] trailer on fire," said Hurst.
The West Shore Emergency Support Services is looking after the owners of the trailer and providing them with needed accommodations and clothing for 72 hours.
