While fireworks were still going off overhead, a couple in Kelowna welcomed a bouncing baby girl born into the world at the Kelowna General Hospital.
At 12:40 a.m. Navy Shae was born, making her the New Years baby for the Interior Health Region, which stretches across the Okanagan and the south east of the province.
Baby Navy Shae was born at 7lbs. 7 oz. to parents Jessica and Scott.
Her parents said “we are very grateful for the wonderful care we received from the labour and delivery team at KGH.”

Vernon’s first baby of the year is a boy who was born at 5:11 a.m., to Megan Goodban. The baby boy was born at 6 lbs and 11 oz.
B.C.’s first baby was born at 12 a.m. at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster. While few details have been released, the province says the baby was 6 pounds 14 ounces.

On Vancouver Island, the first baby, named Ferguson ‘Gus’ Kenneth Oulette Mitchell, was born at 2:06 a.m., weighing 7 pounds 8 ounces.
