West Shore RCMP arrest prohibited, uninsured motorcyclist after Langford crash

West Shore RCMP determined that the driver was prohibited from driving and the motorcycle had been uninsured since October 2023.

A motorcyclist prohibited from driving was arrested by West Shore RCMP after crashing his uninsured Harley-Davidson bike in Langford on July 25.

The single vehicle crash happened on Millstream Road at Hoylake Avenue at 6:18 p.m. A witness told police the motorcycle took a wide turn crashing into the curb before falling on its side.

The 47-year-old man driving was injured and taken to hospital. He is expected to recover.

Officers determined that the driver was prohibited from driving and the motorcycle had been uninsured since October 2023. Police also suspected that the driver had consumed alcohol, but he refused to give a breath sample.

The driver was arrested for prohibited driving and failure to provide a breath sample and has been given an upcoming court date.

He was also charged and fined $698 under the Motor Vehicle Act for having no insurance.
