A suspect has been identified after $600 worth of handmade bracelets were stolen from an 11-year-old girl in Langford.

A suspect has been identified in relation to a theft in Langford in which a woman was caught on video seemingly stealing bracelets from the front porch of a residence near the 2700 block of Lakehurst Drive.

An 11-year-old girl had been selling handmade gemstone bracelets outside her residence with a collection of them on display. The girl and her parent went inside their residence for a few minutes and came back out to discover the majority of the bracelets on display had been stolen.

The theft occurred on July 17 where the woman was observed stealing about 40 bracelets, totalling $600 in value, from the residence.

West Shore RCMP say they are continuing to investigate the incident, and the footage that police shared on Youtube has now been deleted.

A GoFundMe page was set up for the 11-year-old with the goal of raising $1,000. As of Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m., just over that amount has been raised.
