With the chill of winter upon us, the slower pace and shorter days often leave families looking for something special to do. If you’re in Victoria on Feb. 17, why not turn Family Day into a celebration filled with laughter, fun activities, and community connection?
Whether you're lacing up your skates, enjoying a delicious barbecue lunch or grooving to Taylor Swift hits during music bingo, it’s a day designed to bring families together and brighten the heart of winter in Victoria.
Here’s why Family Day at Esquimalt Recreation is the perfect antidote to the winter blues!
Morning highlights: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The day kicks off with a wide variety of family-friendly activities:
- Kinder gym fun: A space packed with toys, games and our always-popular bouncy castle.
- Capital bike course: Test your biking skills on a dedicated course set up in the lacrosse box.
- Community group activities: The atrium will be buzzing with local community groups offering interactive displays and activities.
- Lion’s Club barbecue: Stop by the Senior Centre for a delicious by-donation barbecue lunch hosted by the Lion’s Club.
Midday fun: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
- Family swim: Enjoy quality time splashing around in the pool.
Afternoon activities:
- Everyone welcome skate: 2:30 – 3:50 p.m. Lace up your skates and glide across the ice! (Skate rentals are not included.)
- Family-friendly music bingo: 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. Head to Jubilee Hall for an unforgettable music bingo experience hosted by Original Music Bingo.
- Round 1: General music madness — a fun mix of hits across genres.
- Round 2: Taylor Swift throwdown — a must for every Swiftie!
Pre-registration is required.
Evening event: 6 – 7 p.m.
- Family open gym: Wrap up your day with more family fun! Get moving with a variety of light sports equipment and basketball nets - perfect for all ages! (Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.)
