Don't miss the internationally acclaimed Shen Yun Performing Arts as they make their highly anticipated return to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver this spring.

This year’s performance features brand-new programming and promises to transport audiences to the heart of ancient China through vibrant classical Chinese dance, live orchestral music and captivating storytelling.

Founded in New York in 2006, Shen Yun has become a global phenomenon. What began with a single touring company has grown into eight, each with its own live orchestra. Despite this remarkable expansion, Shen Yun’s mission remains unchanged: to share China’s 5,000-year-old culture with the world. Through its performances, the company offers a rare opportunity to experience the depth and grace of an ancient art form once thought lost.

At the heart of Shen Yun is classical Chinese dance, a dynamic and expressive art form that has evolved over centuries. The performances blend intricate choreography, vibrant costumes and powerful music. From whimsical, playful scenes to deeply moving portrayals of historical and spiritual themes, the show offers something for everyone.

And it’s not just the visuals that leave a lasting impression. This uplifting and inspiring performance captivates audiences with positive energy and deep cultural resonance.

Leagh Barkley, who attended Shen Yun for the first time during a March 24 matinee in Vancouver, said she “loved the wide range of styles. We were able to see and experience Chinese traditional dance through whimsical and playful scenes as well as very serious themes too.” She added that it was a rare opportunity to witness an art form so rich in tradition and steeped in history.

Philip Lieberman, a member of the board of directors of the National Ballet of Canada, echoed these sentiments after seeing Shen Yun in Toronto. “The message that Shen Yun is bringing to the world is one of inclusiveness, of something bigger, that brings us all together,” Lieberman said. “We need that now.”

Vancouver will host six performances of Shen Yun at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre from April 9 to 13. Whether you’re seeing the show for the first time or returning for another dose of this cultural extravaganza, Shen Yun offers a unique and enriching experience that celebrates the beauty and depth of Chinese heritage.
