A protection plan can give you peace of mind when investing in new furniture, and if you don’t use it you’ll get it back as store credit! Learn more at doddsfurniture.com.

Have you ever spilled your drink at a house party? Did everyone leap to their feet with advice on how to remove the stain?

Dab, don’t wipe! White wine on a red wine stain! Grab the vinegar! Grab the vacuum! Grab the paper towel!

“Beautiful, well-kept furniture can be a real source of pride, but we know it’s not the only thing that’s important. When you arm yourself with the right stain removal knowledge and furniture protection products, you can furnish fearlessly! That means your furniture supports the other parts of your life, instead of holding you back,” says Love Dodd from Dodd’s Furniture and Mattress.

Most of us understand the importance of cleaning up spills quickly, before stains set in. But it’s not always possible to catch spills right away — especially if your house guest just flips the couch cushion to hide their mess! Here are a few tips for stubborn stains:

  1. Read the label: Look for a label tucked into a couch cushion or on the underside of your rug — it may offer care instructions! “W” means water-based cleaner, “S” means dry-clean only, “WASH” means fabric can be tossed in the washing machine on delicate setting, and “X” means vacuum only.
  2. Steam: If your fabric or upholstery can be cleaned with water, steam may be even more effective. Using your iron’s steam button (be careful not to touch the fabric with the iron’s hot metal!) can be a great solution for small areas.
  3. Try twice: Just because a stain didn’t come out the first time doesn’t mean it’s there forever. Repeating the same cleaning process a second or third time may yield great results!

Protect against furniture stains before they happen

Furniture is a big investment — not just the cost, but also the time and effort you put into finding the perfect piece. To avoid premature damage or replacement, protect your investment at the time of purchase.

“Dodd’s offers a Product Protection plan that covers most stains and accidental damage, and if you don’t use it, you can get it back as a store credit for your next Dodd’s purchase,” Dodd says. “When you purchase the plan you’ll also receive a complimentary care kit, which includes many of the products you’ll need to care for your new furniture.”

Guarding new furniture can give you peace of mind, and may really impress your guests the next time there’s a spill!
