The Symphony in the Summer Festival returns July 27 to Aug. 5 with free and ticketed events around Victoria, including at the Cameron Bandshell in Beacon Hill Park (pictured).

With six performances over two weekends at beautiful landmarks around the city, Victoria Symphony is definitely bringing music to the people.

There’s something for everyone: If you want to relax with family, pop by the free concerts at Market Square or the Cameron Bandshell. If you’re looking to give a loved one a memorable night in magnificent surroundings, pick up tickets for the VS concerts at Butchart Gardens or Christ Church Cathedral. For a social evening up close with the orchestra, grab a coveted spot to Mozart and Martinis at The Atrium on Yates.

It’s your chance to hear masterworks, modern pop hits and even opera in more relaxed settings — don’t miss it!

July 29 at Market Square: Every Symphony in the Summer Festival features a young soloist, and this year we’re treated to 11-year-old violinist and Victoria local, Max Francis. The music at Market Square starts at 4 p.m., and the VS Orchestra performs at 7:30 p.m. The entire evening is free to attend! Soak in the sounds while enjoying a drink or meal on one of the local patios, or sit in the sunshine on the steps while you take in the show.

Aug. 3 at Butchart Gardens: 11-year-old violinist Max Francis and soprano Aviva Fortunata perform with the Victoria Symphony at Butchart. The concert is free with admission to the gardens — stroll through the blooming flowers before spreading out your blanket for an evening with Wagner, Strauss, Mozart and more!

Aug. 4 & 5 at Cameron Bandshell: Two nights of free music at the Cameron Bandshell in Beacon Hill Park, presented by the Victoria Symphony and Pacific Opera Victoria. Take a bench seat or bring a blanket to enjoy a preview of the 2023-24 opera and symphony seasons, from masterworks to pops.
