Cougar season is on us as visitors to Goldstream Park Campground learned this morning. Around 4:45 a.m. today (May 26) West Shore RCMP received a report of a cougar sighting and sounds of the cat around the campground.
Animal Conservation Office was notified and advised it is common to have cougars in the area at this time of the year. Cougars’ normal behavior is to run away from the area when people are around.
RCMP patrolled the area but did not find the wild cat.
Police warn the general public to be vigilant and ensure they keep small children and pets nearby.
