A provincial program has awarded Esquimalt $1,000 as one of nine municipalities deemed an "age-friendly" community.
Recent age-friendly improvements that helped earn the grant include the outdoor Esquimalt Active Park and accessibility improvements to recreation facilities.
“We are pleased to be recognized in this way and will continue in our efforts to make Esquimalt an accessible and healthy community for residents of all ages,” Mayor Barbara Desjardins said in a statement.
The Age-Friendly B.C. program issues grants to municipalities to create a legacy project or celebration.
