A fire that began in the sauna area at Crystal Pool caused an evacuation of the facility at about 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
A firefighter on scene said the department received a call just before that and luckily, a crew was out on the road in the area. Ultimately six trucks and 18 firefighters responded to the call, but the fire was out before firefighters arrived, according to a Victoria Fire Department release.
“The sauna had caught fire but the damage is minimal. It actually only took about 10 minutes from the time we got the call to when the fire was out,” the firefighter told the News.
Circulation fans were placed at the pool’s front entrance to clear smoke from the facility, but staff had no comment when asked when the pool would re-open. No one was injured in the event.
