One block of Wilson Street in Vic West was evacuated this morning, when construction crews hit a gas line while digging near the road.
"We (evacuate) as a precaution," said platoon Capt. Wayne Moody with Victoria Fire Department. "We'll evacuate the whole block depending on the wind."
Firefighters and police were called to the 600-block of Wilson at about 11:30 a.m. The leak was not serious, Moody said, and the leak was crimped shut before 12:30 p.m.
Traffic was briefly detoured from the area, but the road was reopened at 12:30. There were no injuries.
"Everything's a happy ending," Moody said.
