Greater Victoria gets gutsy for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada

The 2023 Gutsy Walk has raised over $55K and counting

A large group walked the chip trail at the Cedar Hill Golf Course in Saanich this weekend to support people living with inflammatory bowel disease.

The 28th annual Gutsy Walk took place across the country Sunday (June 4) and raised funds for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s support programs and innovative research.

“Even though it is challenging, I am thankful for my journey with Crohn’s, as it has taught me to be empathetic and patient with others,” 2023 local honorary Chair Danielle Martyniuk said.

Approximately 300,000 Canadians live with inflammatory bowel disease.

The 2023 fundraising goal is $60,000. As of Sunday afternoon, more than $48,000 was raised with an additional $7,000 pledged.

Gutsy Walks have been held in the country since 1996 and have raised more than $50 million for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada. It is the largest single fundraiser to support the cause.
