Hillside Centre will once again mark the start of the holiday shopping season with The Night of Lights on Sunday.
Also known as, The Night Before Late Night Shopping, the event provides non-profit organizations with tickets to the exclusive evening.
Local non-profits sell tickets for $5 and keep 100 per cent of the proceeds. Last year, more than $48,000 was generated from ticket sales for over 70 non-profit groups in the community.
Over 20,000 tickets are available from more than 68 non-profits for the Nov. 19 event that runs from 6 to 9:30 p.m. At that time the shopping centre is open to ticket holders only.
Tickets are also available at Hillside Guest Services, with all proceeds going to BC Children’s Hospital.
“We are delighted to host the event again this year – our 17th year. Over the 16 years that Hillside has hosted the event, we’ve raised over $750,000 for non-profit groups in our community,” said Hillside spokesperson Michele Paget.
Specifically, the Night of Lights event marks the beginning of extended holiday shopping hours.
During the night, stores offer in-store bargains, tasty treats, live entertainment and a chance to win one of more than 100 fabulous door prizes including a trip for four to Disneyland.
