Two more long-term care homes on Vancouver Island are dealing with COVID-19 outbreaks as of Thursday, Island Health announced.
In Victoria, two residents at Selkirk Seniors Village have tested positive for the virus so far. There, the outbreak has been contained to the Dayton unit on the fourth floor.
Two residents have also contracted COVID at the Chemainus Health Care Centre, where the outbreak has been contained to the Harbour Side unit.
All long-term care cases announced by Island Health on Thursday were confirmed either through PCR testing or through the authority’s case and contact management team.
At most care facilities, only essential or single designated visitors are being allowed in, congregated dining and group activities have been put on hold, and staff movement has been reduced.
Patients, families and staff are being notified anytime there is a new case, according to Island Health.
