Arrowsmith Search and Rescue (ASAR) has purchased and outfitted the first of two initial response vehicles and passed the halfway mark in its “Rescue Ready” fundraising campaign.
“The recent rescue of a stranded climber on Little Mountain clearly demonstrated why Arrowsmith Search and Rescue’s Rescue Ready campaign is so essential to the community,” ASAR said in a social media post.
With $60,000 of the $100,000 goal raised, ASAR has been able to equip the vehicle with rescue gear and communication equipment. It is stationed at a member’s home for immediate response.

Less than five minutes from the initial call, the vehicle and the required equipment was on scene, ready for arriving rope team members to set up for the technical rescue, according to ASAR. The timely and professional response lead to a great outcome for the climber and his family.
The Rescue Ready campaign wraps up June 30.
Financial support is needed to buy the second response vehicle.
