UPDATE: 65-year-old motorcyclist from North Saanich killed in crash on Mills Road Sunday

RCMP are looking for a witness who left the scene and who may have vital details

UPDATE: A 65-year-old North Saanich man was killed Sunday afternoon when the motorcycle he was driving was involved in a collision with a car on Mills Road.

Police are now looking for a witness who provided police some details about the incident, but who left the area.

Sidney North Saanich RCMP state that the crash occurred on Sun., Oct. 1 at around 12:30 p.m. on the road near the entrance to the Fickle Fig farm market. Firefighters and paramedics at the scene performed life saving activity, including CPR, in an attempt to save the man. However, life saving actions were ceased at approximately 1:30 p.m. and the area was cordoned off by police as they interviewed witnesses and investigated the area.

Two occupants of the car, a 66-year-old woman from North Saanich and a three-year-old, were not injured.

The road was closed off for several hours Sunday afternoon while the RCMP, North Saanich Fire Department, BC Ambulance, the BC Coroners Service and Victim Services attended the scene. The vehicle had been taken into possession by the RCMP as part of the investigation.

According to Corporal Chris Manseau of the RCMP, a witness who gave information to officers at the scene, left before providing contact information. He said police would like to get in touch with them, as they might be able to provide more details about the incident. The witness is urged to call police at 250-656-3931.
