Oak Bay police hunt thief who took family's cargo e-bike valued at $10K

Stolen car also among 89 calls to Oak Bay cops last week

A family is down a mode of transportation after someone stole a cargo e-bike late last week from the 2000-block of Cadboro Bay Road.

Oak Bay police department hopes the public can help locate a large-frame, black Triobike Boxter E-Bike with carrier valued at more than $10,000. It was reported stolen June 29.

Anyone with information is asked to call the department at 250-592-2424.

It was among the 89 calls for service to the Oak Bay Police Department the week of June 26 to July 3.

Stolen Accord recovered

Theft charges possible after a car stolen in Oak Bay was later found in Saanich.

On July 1, a resident reported their 2001 Honda Accord stolen from their driveway in the 2700-block of Foul Bay Road sometime over the previous two days. Officers canvassed for video and witnesses but found no leads. On July 4, Saanich police located the vehicle in their area and the vehicle was returned to the registered owner. A charge of possession of stolen property is being considered against the driver, a 40-year-old Saanich man, who was the lone occupant of the stolen vehicle.

Insurance reminder

An officer doing traffic enforcement in in the area of 3800 Finnerty Rd. spotted an uninsured vehicle July 3. The vehicle had not been insured since February, and the registered owner of the vehicle was issued a ticket for driving without insurance and a $598 fine.
