One lane of the Malahat on Highway 1 will be closed overnight on Thursday for paving work, between Wellswood Road and Finlayson Arm Road at Tunnel Hill.
EMCON’s South Island Division tweeted that traffic on that section of roadway would be single-lane alternating between 7 p.m. Thursday and 5 a.m. Friday and to expect some congestion.
The maintenance company has been busy with repairs on several important Island roadways, with recent weather changes causing potholes and damage.
“Weather shifting from freeze to thaw mixed with volumes of rain, potholes are popping up all over South Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands,” EMCON tweeted Jan. 11. “Our crew is working hard to keep them filled and marked.”
