A fish and chips shop was hit by a robber who made off with some cash on Monday.
At about 7:45 p.m., a man dressed in black walked into Vic’s Fish and Chips on Broad Street, flashed a knife and demanded money.
VicPD attended but didn’t find a suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
‘I gotta go’ leads to crime
A man desperate for a pee was seen breaking into a car sales lot last weekend.
After watching a man smash the glass door and go inside Vancouver Island Auto Exchange on Johnson Street at 2 a.m. on Saturday, a witness called police.
Officers searched the area and arrested a 27-year-old man, who said he really needed to use the john. Police forwarded break-and-enter charges against him.
Nothing was stolen from the business.
Teens thankful they carried ID
Cutting right to the chase, two brothers from Nanaimo pulled a knife on a pair of 16-year-old boys at a Victoria bus stop last week.
At 10:30 p.m. at a bust stop in front of Aberdeen Hospital on Hillside Avenue, the older brother held a blade against one of the teen’s faces and demanded ID. The brothers were looking for someone named JD.
Satisfied that neither teen was JD, the brothers left. The teens boarded a bus and called 9-1-1.
Police found two men, aged 23 and 19, nearby on Gosworth Road. The men, who had been drinking, were arrested for violating previous court-ordered conditions not to drink. Victoria police recommended added charges of assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon and uttering threats against the elder.
