Saanich Police responded to three fires between Friday night and Saturday morning in the core neigbhourhood of Saanich.
The first fire was reported at around 9 p.m. on Friday next to Staples office store on Tolmie Avenue. A chair was lit on fire between the building and a row of bushes.

Staff from Staples noticed the fire and were able to extinguish it before it damaged anything else, said Saanich Police Sgt. Julie Fast.

The second and third fires were set in dumpsters just before 4 a.m. Saturday morning. One was behind Save-on-Foods on Blanshard Street and the other across the street at 894 Vernon Ave.
Both fires were put out by Saanich Fire with damage contained to the dumpsters and not to any of the surrounding area.
