The search for Leslie Desfosses, a Saanich man missing since last week, has taken a sad and tragic turn.
The 89-year-old was found dead on Thursday morning (May 25) after Hope RCMP, Boston Bar RCMP, and BC Highway Patrol members responded to a single-vehicle collision close to Anderson River Bridge, near Boston Bar. According to police, the vehicle, which Desfosses was discovered to be the driver of, had left the road and ended up flipped over in the ditch. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“The Hope RCMP would like to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Leslie Desfosses on this tragic incident,” said Sgt. Mike Sargent of the Hope RCMP. “The Hope RCMP would also like to extend thanks to the public and the media for their assistance in this matter.”
Desfosses, who was last seen in Hope on May 16, was believed to have been travelling to the Lytton area. His family, who were very worried for his well-being, reported him missing on May 19. They were working with RCMP to conduct a search from the Hope to Ashcroft area.
