Sixteen hours of freedom ends with arrest

Suspect caught with 40 grams of cocaine, say Victoria police

A well-known offender got put back in the slammer less than a day after being released from prison.

John Barry, 30, won his freedom early Wednesday morning. On information that he was trafficking cocaine, police began tailing him.

They pulled over his car early Thursday morning and seized 40 grams of cocaine, police say. They also arrested 26-year-old James Richardson, wanted on two outstanding arrests.

Barry faces charges for breaching his probation order, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and two charges of trafficking a controlled substance.

Richardson is also being charged with trafficking a controlled substance.
