Spectrum hosts conference on caring for special needs children

This weekend, families, educators, and health and social service providers will come together for Building Bridges, a conference to discuss caring for children with special needs. A series of workshops and talks hosted by the University of Victoria's CanAssist program will run Feb. 18 and 19 at Spectrum community school.

"Parents will share success stories and give other parents who are attending a sense of hope," said CanAssist's Elsa Yan.

Topics covered at the 23 weekend workshops include: financial planning, recreation and physical exercise, transition planning, nutrition and health, networking and mentoring, employment and volunteering, individual education plans, and family wellness.
