A rash of thefts from three homes has Saanich police warning that a large number of stolen items could end up for sale online.
Sgt. Steve Eassie said there's no apparent links between the thefts and it's likely a coincidence all happened over a few days last week.
"The fact there was no forced entry at either of the homes ... is a reminder to people to make sure outbuildings and storage areas are locked and secured," he said.
The heat pump
Overnight between Dec. 11 and 12, a 290-pound Whirlpool heat pump was stolen from a residence in the 6000-block of West Saanich Rd.
The pump had been packaged to ship on a palette on or near the driveway, and at least two people entered the property and presumably carried it to a vehicle, police say.
The pump is three by three by three feet, worth about $2,500 and a Whirlpool model WGHP4636.
The storage shed
Between Dec. 9 and 13, someone made off with $3,800 of goods from a storage area of a home in the 3300 block of Lindwood Ave. Police say the owners may have left the shed unlocked and that the entry is not visible from the road or to neighbouring homes.
Stolen items include:
Two Scotty electric downriggers
Two Milwaukee 18 volt cordless drills
Two Milwaukee cordless impact drivers
One black and silver Specialized Crosstrail Pro Disc mountain bike
One charcoal and silver Specialized Crosstrail Comp Disc mountain bike
One UVEX bicycle helmet, coloured black matte
The detached garage
Overnight between Dec. 13 and 14 someone stole $1,650 worth of goods from a boat on a property in the 4400 block of Wilkinson Rd. Suspects also entered a garage through a sliding glass door and stole 11 beer from the fridge.
Stolen items include:
One Island mooching reel
One blue Trophy fishing reel
One set of Vortexx binoculars
