Both lanes are open on Metchosin Road after fire crews responded to a house fire in Colwood on Monday (Dec. 5).
Colwood Assistant Fire Chief Greg Chow says crews were initially called to a burning complaint at 12:55 p.m. Monday afternoon, only to discover there was a structure fire happening.
Chow said firefighters attacked the fire and were able to extinguish it. They did a search of the building to find nobody was inside.
The cause of the is still being investigated.
Traffic had been being diverted earlier Monday afternoon in the area of the 3000-block Metchosin Road, with northbound traffic shut down and diverted between Wishart Road to Sooke Road, but the lanes had been reopened as of 2:46 p.m.
In all, four apparatus and 21 firefighters were on the scene responding.
