There were two stabbings in two days this week at the downtown McDonald’s, at View and Douglas streets. Both were targeted attacks.
The first happened Sunday at 9 p.m. Two men, aged 19 and 20, hid inside the bathroom and waited until a 25-year-old man known to them entered. They stabbed him several times and all three fled the scene.
The victim was found a few blocks away and rushed to hospital. He is in stable condition.
Four hours after the incident, one suspect was arrested at a residence in the zero block of Bay Street. The other turned himself in to police at 6 a.m. Monday. The knife believed to have been used in the attack was found in a storm drain at Blanshard and Fort streets.
Chance Ferelli, 19, and Stephen Paul, 20, are charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The following night, a 16-year-old boy sitting at a table in the restaurant was swarmed by eight other youths, who flashed several weapons. A fight broke out and moved outside.
The 16-year-old was stabbed and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Minutes after the stabbing, police arrested two teens a few blocks away, at Douglas and Johnson streets. A 16-year-old teen from Saanich and a 19-year-old man from the North Island could be charged with assault with a weapon. Police are looking for more suspects.
