The Island Farms Victoria Day Parade and festivities will take to the street to thrill young and old alike this weekend.
It’s the city’s largest parade and features Canadian and American marching bands, community and commercial floats, military exhibitions, cultural shows, and more. It’s the 119th year for the parade, and features more than 100 parade attractions and some 3,000 participants, all there to celebrate the holiday honouring the city’s namesake.
The parade begins on Monday, May 22 at Mayfair Mall at 9 a.m. and continues down Douglas Street, finishing at Humbolt Street.
The festivities extend beyond the parade with a host of activities at Centennial Square where food, entertainment, activities, theatre and art will be the order of the day.
As well, the Victoria Day Block Party (on Humbolt Street between Government and Douglas) will be hosted by the Maritime Museum and the Union Club of B.C. to celebrate Canada 150. The party will feature live entertainment and a variety of family friendly activities.
