The Victoria Grizzlies paid a visit to the Military Family Resource Centre in Colwood on Tuesday and met with some children from the centre’s daycare.

Kids excitedly high-fived players from the junior A ice hockey team and posed with them for a photo.

The meet and greet was organized to help promote a military family appreciation night that is being organized by the resource centre and the Grizzlies.

The appreciation night will take place on Jan. 25, 2019.

“Part of the ticket sales will come back to the military families as will the 50/50 sales,” said Lisa Church, a community engagement manager with the Military Family Resource Centre. “We’re so happy to be partnering with the Grizzlies and to be supporting military families.”

The money collected will help support children with parents who are deployed and in the military.

“It was time to have some recognition,” Church said. “It’s time to acknowledge the hard work that our military families endure and the hard work that our members give to the community and to their jobs so this is our time to honour them.”

The Military Family Resource Centre provides programs and services that serve, involve and advocate for the military community and their families.

The centre offers counselling, workshops, daycare and many more resources to military families in the area.
