A man walking in the Quadra Street and Pandora Avenue area piqued the curiosity of a Victoria police officer who was driving by.
On Jan. 2 around 3:18 a.m., the officer saw the man carrying what looked like a TV under a blanket and then witnessed a computer keyboard fall to the ground.
Upon closer inspection, a Mac computer was also found in the blanket, police say.
"The suspect told the officer that he had found the computer nearby, but a search of the suspect also turned up a bent screwdriver, a flashlight, a surgical mask and a set of lock-picking tools," Deputy Police Chief John Ducker wrote on the department's operations blog.
Police later determined the computer had been stolen from the University of Victoria.
A 52-year-old Victoria man was arrested, charged with possession of stolen property and released on a promise to appear in court in a month.
