Police officers from greater Victoria and the south Island turned out Tuesday afternoon for a memorial service held at the BC Police and Peace Officers Memorial on the provincial Legislature grounds in Victoria to honour the three RCMP officers who were killed by a gunman in Monctpn, New Brunswick last week.

Police from Victoria, Saanich and Oak Bay as well as RCMP officers from the south island, military representatives, conservation officers and others were in attendance at the memorial service.

The group marched from the front of the Legislature and around the building to the memorial where prayers and brief words were said before Chief Superintendent Ray Bernoties laid a single red rose before a portrait of each officer.
