A Greater Victoria cycling advocacy group’s distinctive custom cargo bike – stolen from outside its office – has now been recovered, says the Victoria Police Department.

The distinctive electric bike was parked outside Capital Bike on Hillside Avenue when it was stolen June 20 between 1 and 8 a.m., the non-profit group said in a callout on social media.

The green-framed bike features a huge wooden cargo box in front and is branded on all sides with the Capital Bike blue logos.

A video posted online shows someone breaking a lock shortly after 5 a.m.

“These videos show the person who stole our beloved cargo bike. Note the thief’s bag of tools, the bike he’s riding, and how quickly he broke through our two $200+ locks,” the post reads.
