December 13, 1950 - August 1, 2025
In Loving Memory ~
Our beloved Arden passed on August 1, 2025.
Born in Nanaimo, BC on 13 December 1950. Youngest child of Captain Otto Douglas and Theodora Elizabeth (née McConnell) Alcorn, formerly of New Brunswick. Survived by sister Consuela Biart of Williams Lake, niece Diane (Dave) Dunaway of Soda Creek, great nieces Shelby and Rae Fletcher of Vancouver, and many cousins scattered across Canada and the USA. Predeceased by his parents, older brother Garry, and niece Jillian.
There were many ups and downs for Arden over the years. Far too many of them were medical which Arden sailed through despite the pain. He was naturally good natured and managed to find lightness in nearly all situations. His grittiness was matched by a kind heart. Arden was an American Civil War expert, Trekkie, pirate aficionado, played cards, chess, checkers, backgammon. He was artistic, liked to paint and do woodwork. Arden loved his time in Boy Scouts and regaled us with many stories from his time as a leader. He came up with the most complicated puns - real zingers! Animals instantly trusted him; he was a dog magnet. Arden loved horror movies, comedies, cheesy sitcoms, and boasted a collection of DVDs and ghost stories that we're still not too sure how to rehome!
Nearly 15 years ago Arden moved from Vancouver Island to the Cariboo to be closer to family. Due to an acquired childhood brain injury, he lived out these final years in complex care at the Williams Lake Seniors' Village.
We will be forever grateful to those who genuinely cared about Arden and his wellbeing.
Everyone who knew Arden or was touched by his life is welcome.Whether you knew him for years or only met him once, please join us.
