Kids over dogs: regular Oak Bay beach user

Dog lobby holds too much power in the municipality

I would like to give my two cents on the dog park debate:

I always take my kids down to Kitty Islet or McNeil Bay beach (after 11 a.m.) specifically because they have highly visible signs warning that they are off limits to dogs. More often than not, there are dogs there anyway. When I point this out to the owners I almost always get “don’t worry, he’s friendly” as a reply, as if this means the law does not apply to them.

The idea of creating a new dog park when dog owners are already using every park and beach is ludicrous. Kids should come before pets, and that means either Oak Bay dog owners begin to respect the bylaws, or the municipality should begin enforcing them.
