LETTER: Canada doesn't need a bully as prime minister

Pierre Poilievre’s actions should preclude him from leading Canada, not just domestically, but on the global stage

I have been watching recent events in the Canadian political landscape and feel the need to call out something that is very troubling.

When Pierre Poilievre uses derogatory and demeaning nicknames for others, it harkens me back to my childhood many decades ago. What held true back then, I believe, holds true today. These are the antics of a schoolyard bully, and should be called out as such. This irresponsible behaviour is indicative of an individual that feels the need to belittle others to make themselves seem more important.

From my perspective, Mr. Poilievre’s actions should preclude him from leading Canada, not just domestically, but on the global stage. My expectation is for the leader of this country to be a role model, and conduct themselves with a certain level of civility and decorum. There is no place for bullying behavior in any form in our society, but particularly from those who seek to hold the highest office in our country.
