LETTER: Carbon tax a fair way to target largest polluters

In response to the letter “Climate concerns don’t come without economic costs,” in the June 6 edition, may I correct some misinformation.  Fossil fuel burning is, in fact, a huge, not small, percentage of the CO2 that we humans spew into the atmosphere.

The writer disses Canada’s carbon tax. Actually, a carbon tax is one of the most efficient (as well as the fairest) methods to reduce our carbon footprint.  The largest polluters pay proportionally more, and 80% of Canadians are rebated the taxes they pay on carbon.  It is the larger consumers and producers of fossil fuels that are financially impacted.
