Langford Mayor Scott Goodmanson told the Goldstream Gazette that a $23,570 conference was “a chance for a new city council to listen to what is working in other communities across Canada.”
Perhaps a phone call to another municipality or an arranged zoom meeting would’ve been a better option. I’m sure that any public official would be more than happy to talk to you, virtually rather than in-person, if you asked.
What the mayor and new council seem to forget is that we all functioned during COVID without meeting in person. Why not use all the virtual tools available to us rather than wasting taxpayers’ money on an unnecessary excursion?
