Re: "Life afloat with the Brentwood Bay Marine Community" in Peninsula News Review, Feb 13.
The article includes the line, "Some do not have tanks for sewage." True, and unfortunate.
What is more important is that none of the live aboard boats ever gets pumped out, and most of them never leave their moorage. Guess where their sewage goes?
The liveaboards say that the high pollution counts come from leaking sewers or abandoned septic tanks, but there are no such tanks on the western slope of Brentwood Bay: they were all taken out or filled when the area was subdivided 60 years ago. According to the District of Central Saanich the sewer system is not to blame for high pollution counts, but someone is wrong.
