LETTER: Low-income families need break on camping

I get that politicians have no idea what it’s like to truly not be able to afford what they think is a cheap holiday.

Re: Camping harder to afford (Our View, Feb. 6)

It is a shame that the B.C. government is making what was once an affordable vacation for families, further out of range for low-income families.

Even though camping rates are less than hotels, it is still too expensive when considering the extras that are needed for a two-week vacation in the woods.

Perhaps the government could come up with a coupon for low-income families, so those kids actually get to go somewhere over the summer.

I get that politicians have no idea what it’s like to truly not be able to afford what they think is a cheap holiday.

I wish they’d get what it feels like to those kids that can’t go and the parents trying to do the best they can with not enough.

I wishing they could walk a mile in those shoes.
