LETTER: Oak Bay continues to turn a blind eye to Carnarvon Park

Windsor Park playground survey an insult to Carnarvon Park users

One of four options presented in the survey for Windsor Park's new playground

For those of us who have been waiting over 15 years (some much, much longer) to see Carnarvon Park rejuvenated to its real place among the best green spaces in Victoria, the district's playground survey for Windsor Park is truly insulting.

Alas, I don't believe, as a member of this community for 36 years, that Carnarvon Park has really had a playground like the beautiful design laid out in the recent Oak Bay News, for Windsor Park. On one hand, I am very excited that Oak Bay is finally building playgrounds, which they haven't done for what seems like millennia.

On the other hand, it further shows the bias around improvements to areas outside of South Oak Bay – cue the roll of the eyes from South Oak Bayians – don't care, by the way, roll away.

This also shines light on the debacle of the Carnarvon Park situation. Using park land to build homes? Really? Step up for once, and improve Carnarvon Park the right way. Restore it already, it's getting ridiculous.
