On June 24, while visiting my daughter from the Sunshine Coast, I tripped outside Keating Elementary School and dislocated my ankle, breaking three bones.
I was very touched by all the help I received.

Big thanks to the principal and staff of Keating School who ministered to me as we waited for the ambulance (thanks to the Saanich School District who are going to fix the tripping problem). Thanks to the paramedics for their care, and the dispatch service who told me there was one call ahead of me, which helped relieve my anxiety.

I am grateful to Dr. Maher and the staff of the Saanich Peninsula Hospital emergency and X-ray departments who treated the dislocation and looked after me with cheerfulness and care; I was there all day and saw how busy everyone was. Another big vote of thanks to Dr. Nelson, his staff and the nurses, physio and helpers of the orthopedic ward and recovery unit for the prompt and efficient care I received. Again I saw how stretched and busy everyone was but my ankle was fixed in a timely fashion.

I am now on eight weeks of bed rest but it could have been so much worse without the wonderful response from our health-care professionals.
