LETTER: Protected bike lanes create new set of issues

web1_letters-fwm-200814-letter_1

Driving around looking at all the concrete barriers supposedly designed to protect cyclists makes a person think about the new problems that will come up because of them.

When someone’s car breaks down where can they pull over while they’re trying to find an opening in the barriers? These have also cut down drastically on road parking, including for people who have them in front of their houses.

It will be interesting to see how the snowplow drivers will deal with them when we get snow. And of course how much of our tax dollars will be spent to buy special plows for the bike lanes that nobody will use in the snow?

It’s just more of “damn the forethought, build more bike lanes.” The bureaucratic stupidity goes on and on.
