Why is Coun. Nathalie Chambers constantly using the media to try and justify her positions? If you continually have to explain and defend your positions, it’s because you are making poor decisions contrary to the wishes of your constituents. It’s that simple.
Coun. Chambers apparently doesn’t support the PPP because she thinks it is too weak, whereas most Saanich citizens disagree, finding it unnecessary and a waste of ten million valuable tax dollars. Council’s job is to listen to the concerns of citizens and find compromise and common ground, not to simply blindly follow their own interests. However, it seems Coun. Chambers and many of her colleagues struggle to understand this concept.
Rather than try to justify her unpopular positions, perhaps Coun. Chambers could actually listen to citizens who have taken the time to speak to council with their concerns. Deliberately spreading misinformation about the ecological sensitivity of PKOLS doesn’t help, and is conduct unbecoming a Saanich councilor.
If PKOLS is so ecologically sensitive, why does she live and farm on those same slopes, just outside the park boundary? Apparently, she has no issue with living in this purported ecological nirvana, but she wants to limit recreational access for citizens. Surely that is the height of hypocrisy!
Do us all a favour and stop trying to justify your poor decisions. We do agree on one thing though: Saanich council has certainly lost the trust of residents.
