LETTER: Saanich North candidate's stance on plastics makes no sense

Conservative candidate David Busch says he is passionate about reducing plastics in the ocean, but does not support a ban on plastic bags

In the article about Conservative candidate David Busch (August 8), it is noted that Mr. Busch is passionate about reducing plastics in the ocean, but does not support a ban on plastic bags.  

With microplastics now being found in animal, bird, and human tissue all over the world, it makes no sense to depend merely on voluntary "waste management systems" of the world's top plastic polluters. For most of them, profits pre-empt pollution.
