LETTER: Sonia Furstenau a refreshing change

I am so sick and tired of listening to the NDP and Conservatives using an election to attack each other

Green Party leader Sonia Furstenau is seen here outside her Fort Street campaign office.

Sonia Furstenau is proving to be the people’s leader in B.C.

I am old enough to remember the hope and enthusiasm voters had when Jack Layton hit the campaign trail in our federal election. Sonia Furstenau shares the same awareness Jack Layton had about government's role and responsibility to the people. It is refreshing to hear a leader who actually can provide examples, facts, figures, supporting her vision for a province that has the resources, the people and ability to create the best place to work, live and raise a family.

Like many voters, I am so sick and tired of listening to the NDP, Liberals, and Conservatives using an election to attack each other and support each other on what they cannot do. I have lived with the governance of a Liberal, Conservative and NDP party multiple times in my lifetime and the transparency in a reflection pool of every one of these parties is that they continue to fail the people. The Liberals, Conservatives and NDP continue to invest and rely on the private sector to fix our socioeconomic crisis in housing, health, and education. Decade after decade the elected parties break those pie-in-the-sky promises we are fed on the campaign trail. To secure your vote they do the exact same thing they do with corporate welfare, they offer to buy your vote. The Rustad Rebate, the middle-class tax credit.

When the going got tough, Kevin Falcon picked up his toys and went home. When it comes to John Rustad and David Eby, the only platform is talk about each other’s failures using the same tripe we watch and hear out of our neighbours to the south. News alert, Canada has a completely different form of government, we are a constitutional monarchy, where the U.S.A. is a republic.  We elect leaders differently and heaven help us if the voters decide to change to a two-party country.

It has been proven over and over again, when the people operate under a minority we all have the ear of government. It is my hope that the people of B.C. do not give the NDP or Conservatives a majority.  Let’s not forget government is of the people, by the people, for the people.  The only leader whose platform supported this ideology was Sonia Furstenau.
