LETTER: Sympathy for the oil companies

web1_letters-aub-200306-t

Pleased to meet you; hope you guess my name. What’s puzzlin’ you; is the nature of my game.

I was around when Mr. Ford figured out how to mass produce. I worked hard to put gas in that tank, so you could go for a cruise.

Pleased to meet you; hope you guess my name; What’s puzzlin’ you; is the nature of my game.

The Wright brothers were quite happy to use my lightweight fuel for their plane. They started the age of flight, and no one seemed to complain.

And I waited around in Fort McMurray; because I knew there would be a need. That oil was really hard to get out of the ground, so the price I had to raise. But you still screamed more, more please.

I watched with you while the forests burned; and heard you say, “Who’s making the children sick?” When after all it was you and me.
