LETTER: West Shore student columnist strikes a chord

I've been noticing some wonderful columns in your newspaper, and I'm especially impressed by Student Voice writer Gabriel Mackintosh, who has both a broad vision and an inviting style of writing.

Gabriel Mackintosh is a student columnist for the Goldstream Gazette and high-school student in West Shore.

I've been noticing some wonderful columns in your newspaper, and I'm especially impressed by Student Voice writer Gabriel Mackintosh, who has both a broad vision and an inviting style of writing. I don't know him personally, and yet as a senior citizen I find his opinions well-researched and attractive.

Particularly I want to call attention to his Aug. 7 column, headlined "Wildfires reveal the true face of climate change". His clear call for those his age to take control and "fix this mess" should be embarrassing to those of us who continue to let climate change take a back seat, when the well-intentioned but feeble actions we are taking will lead to such disastrous consequences for today's young people.

Thank you, Gabriel Mackintosh, and thanks also to the Goldstream Gazette for giving him the editorial space that he deserves.
